UPDATE!!!
The book is done! For all intents and purposes, we, "Café Maroc", have a created a digital file that could become a printed book - one we would be proud of.
Now we begin the process of seeing if we can get it published through a publishing house. We have gone about this quite differently from what the industry wants. In the biz, publishers want to be contacted by representing agents who submit their client's manuscript (text with, at the most, suggestions or sketches of what the illustrations could be). If they accept it, they will choose an illustrator from their stable of talent to pair with that manuscript. They believe, and probably correctly, this is the best way to create a decent product they can sell.
Well, we were wanting to go on a journey together of creating something so the route we took was necessary. Now, the merit of our creation not withstanding, we must find out how to go about connecting with a publisher and getting published. If it is possible to get an agent for our team, then we will go that route as I'm sure it would increase our chances.
We have a lot of studying, submitting, and sharing to do. Scary to put our baby out into the world but it's time and we are truly excited.
